Welcome to 'Remember the Coop!'

Avalon Ballroom
San Francisco, CA

Seattle, WA

Hollywood Bowl
Los Angeles, CA

Pittsburgh, PA

Portland, OR

This two-disc SHN set is dedicated to one of the few true originals in the world of rock ÕnÕ roll: The Alice Cooper Group. These two discs are comprised of the following:

uploader's lineage: trade cds shns (files dated Apr 2004) > harddrive > upload
uploader comments: thanks to the artists, tapers and sharers and Tim S in Raymore MO, enjoy!

uploader drivel: my intro to the ACG was when i first heard Love it to Death on a friend's cassette in early 1971. i soon got that lp, then the Killer lp when it came out, (which i later traded for led zep iv, and i wish i had my killer lp back). i dropped out of college in Apr 72 and whilst driving through El Paso moving from east texas to L A, the apparently just released song, School's Out, came on my radio (my first time hearing it) and it was sooooo Great! and sooooo Appropriate. it was expecially cool since i grew up in New Mexico not very far north of El Paso and used to listen to that particular radio station KELP when i was a kid. anyway, later that summer the ACG played the Hollywood Bowl (the show in this boot collection!) and of course i had to go see them. i think it was the first concert i saw in L A. either ACG or Arlo G w/Pete Seeger, i kinda forgot which...
anyways, remember the Coop! and enjoy!

DonÕt Blow Your Mind
The Spiders
An unreleased version of the Spiders single not included in the Rhino box set The Life and Crimes of Alice Cooper.

Avalon Ballroom
San Francisco, CA
No Longer Umpire/ Reflected/ 10 Minutes Before The Worm/ Sing Low, Sweet Cheerio/ B.B. On Mars/ Fields Of Regret/ Nobody Likes Me/ Don't Blow Your Mind
If youÕve never heard Pretties for You or Easy Action-era Alice, you don't know what you're missing--but hereÕs you chance to find out. As Frank Zappa once told the band, ÒI play with some of the best musicians in the world, but it would take them a month to learn some of your songs.Ó And here's why! If ÒReflectedÓ sounds familiar, thatÕs because it was reworked a few years later into the Cooper classic ÒElected.Ó

Seattle, WA
Sun Arise/ Caught in a Dream/ Is It My Body?/ Second Coming/ The Ballad of Dwight Frye/ Black Juju
HereÕs where the band was just hitting their stride, after practically being re-taught to play their instruments by producer Bob Ezrin. The tension you hear isnÕt your imagination (totally); by this time the band was not only redefining their own image but re-estabishing the boundaries of rock ÕnÕ roll, for themselves, a generation of fans and, yes, a galaxy of imitators. Can you say Marilyn Manson?

Hollywood Bowl
Los Angeles, CA
Intro by Wolfman Jack/ Public Animal # 9/ Be My Lover/ IÕm Eighteen/ Is It My Body?/ Halo Of Flies/ Gutter Cat Vs. The Jets/ Street Fight/ Killer/ Long Way To Go/ SchoolÕs Out
Ah, yes! Released on vinyl as ÒYou're All Crazier Than I Am,Ó probably our favorite Cooper boot. Whatta show this is. Wolfman Jack introduced the band (after taking the stage on a camel!) before they launched into a wonderful performance on what must have been a hot, hot night. You need only listen to ÒHalo of FliesÓ to know what we mean! Keep an ear peeled during ÒSchoolÕs OutÓ as one of the audience members says, ÒLook at the helicopters!Ó They were dropping panties on the crowd at the time . . .

Pittsburgh, PA
Be My Lover/ You Drive Me Nervous/ Yeah Yeah Yeah/ IÕm Eighteen/ Halo of Flies/ Is It My Body?
Another excellent show that includes a nice version of ÒYeah, Yeah, Yeah.Ó

Portland, OR
Unfinished Sweet/ Sick Things/ Dead Babies/ I Love the Dead/ SchoolÕs Out
The sound is a little choppy here, and the tape badly edited, but this is an interesting document of a Õ73 show that we had to include because everyone should hear ÒDead BabiesÓ live at least once!

The way you archive these files is up to you, depending on how you maintain your collection. You can save each show to a separate disc if you like, or burn them in order. To best conserve media and maintain the chronological integrity of this set, may we suggest:

Disc 1:
Don't Blow Your Mind
Avalon Ballroom
Seattle, WA

Disc 2:
Hollywood Bowl

Disc 3:
Pittsburgh, PA
Portland, OR

Remember, kids: These are bootlegs. The sound quality, like most things in life, is not always perfect.

This was an official pre-party the day before the Alice Cooper show at Liseberg Amusement Park. The Alice Cooper band was there on their day off and played cover songs and tunes from their solo projects/bands. All of a sudden Alice himself entered the stage and performed some of his songs with the band. This was a pleasent surprise and the crowd went nuts. Captured it all of course and I hope you'll like it. I sure did.

This is my personal favorite out of all the times I have seen Alice. This is a headlining show about 80 miles up the coast from LA while he was touring with the Scorpions. Not only is it my favorite show, it's the best recording, even better than the HOB show previously posted.

I was surprised when I got there to see some members from one of my favorite bands NY Loose milling around outside the venue. I asked if they were there to see the show and they said they were opening. That alone made it worth the hassle and effort involved but it ended up being a great show with a few songs not in the setlist when he opened for the Scorpions.

A friend who was going to drive me sustained an injury so he had to drop out. I ended up having to wander the streets all night until the trains started running again in the morning so I skipped work so I could get enough rest to hit a different show the next night.
